Alright, I gotta give it to them. Though they may not have the best gastronomy (ahem, haggis...), the Scots hands down have the best folklore I've encountered over the course of my travels. From the Loch Ness monster to Kelpies (supernatural water horses) to Bean-Nighes (basically banshees), these one-of-a-kind figures each have fascinating origin stories & play into historical explanations of certain landmarks and natural phenomena. I'm looking forward to learning more about these tales as I travel north to the Isle of Skye for Independent Learning Week. All students get a week off to travel or to take classes from wherever they please, so my friends and I are going to pack up and hit the hostels in Inverness & Uig! Below are some pictures of the places that I'm going to visit, and of course, I will keep you updated on our adventures bopping around the Isle of Skye and Northern Scotland.
